James (Jim) Drummond Dole, the Founder of Dole, was born in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts in 1877. As a young man, a friend of the family gave him what was then an extraordinary gift of $50. He used that money to begin a savings account. Twenty years later, he used that savings to seek his fortune in Hawaii.

With $16,240 in capital, Jim Dole planted his first pineapple crop on 60 acres on Wahiawa in 1901. He named the company Hawaiian Pineapple Company, or Hapco. Two years later, Hapco packed 1,893 cases of canned pineapple. In 1907, Dole moved his cannery to Honolulu and placed ads in U.S. magazines to promote pineapple. This was one of the first nationwide consumer ad campaigns in America.

Over the years, Dole acquired more land and expanded the business and eventually gave it the founder’s name.

Dole® Food Company is now the largest producer and marketer of fresh fruit and vegetables in the world, and markets a growing line of packaged food and fresh flowers. The company does business in more than 90 countries and employs approximately 60,000 full-time people.

The Dole® juice business was purchased by the Joseph E. Seagram Company in 1995. Dole® Beverages are now produced and packed by Duo Juice Company, licensed by Dole® Food Company. Dole® Juice’s innovative 100% juices and blends are available in grocery stores, vending machines and convenience stores across the country.

Single Serving Juices are a great way to take your favorite Dole Juice wherever you go. Dole Single Serving Juices are available in convenience stores, vending machines and grocery stores nationwide. Single Serving flavors include: 100% Apple Juice, 100% Grape Juice, 100% Orange Juice, 100% Strawberry Kiwi Juice Blend, Pineapple Peach Mango 100% Juice Blend and Ruby Red Grapefruit 100% Juice Blend.
